Therapeutic Equestrian Program
PRTEP offers a traditional Therapeutic Riding program and a Sensory Integration Trail. The Therapeutic Riding program focuses on using the horse as a tool to give mentally or physically disabled children a greater sense of independence, self-confidence, and accomplishment while improving flexibility, balance and muscle strength. Individualized lessons contribute to improving the student's physical, cognitive, and emotional wellness. The Sensory Integration Trail helps riders benefit from the input of all their senses while riding. The unique sounds and smells of the trail and its natural surprises are augmented by special sensory integration stations.
Our Mission Statement: Phoenix Rising Therapeutic Equestrian Program is incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia to provide, promote, and support therapeutic riding programs for individuals who have disabling mental, physical, emotional, social, and learning conditions.
Rider disabilities include:

PRTEP is operating out of its new location at Signal Ridge Farm. We offer 30 minute and 1 hour lessons Wednesday through Saturday. Activities will include riding, horse care, games, and crafts.
