Founded in April 2005, Phoenix Rising Therapeutic Equestrian Program provides safe and affordable therapeutic riding lessons for physically, mentally, and emotionally challenged individuals in Fauquier, Prince William, Culpepper, Stafford, and Fairfax counties.

We are a North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) center in good standing. Phoenix Rising participants range in age from 2 to senior adults.

Our program includes:

  • Traditional Therapeutic riding instruction in small groups or individual lessons

  • Sensory Integration Trail

Rider disabilities include:

  • Cerebral Palsy

  • Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD or ADHD)

  • Down Syndrome

  • Multiple Sclerosis

  • Brain Injury

  • Spina Bifida

  • Mental Retardation

  • Autism

  • Neurological Disorders

The therapeutic riding program focuses on using the horse as a tool/partner to give mentally or physically challenged children a greater sense of independence, self-confidence, and accomplishment while improving flexibility, balance and muscle strength.
